Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
Bachelor of Occupational Therapy commonly known as BOT. It is a job oriented undergraduate course in the fields of medicine. Occupational therapy (OT) is a treatment focuses on helping people with a physical, sensory, or cognitive disability in being as independent as possible in all areas of their lives. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy trains students and helps them become skilled professional occupational therapists, capable of undertaking independent/supervised practice.
About the Course.
Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is a undergraduate course. BOT medical course is based on the field of Occupational Therapy. The course duration is 4½ years and on completion, leads to a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. A number of institutions in India as well as overseas offer students with the graduate level course in Occupational Therapy. A student needs to have patience, understanding and empathic ability. To seek admission in BOT course candidate must have completed the 17 years of age. Should have physics, chemistry and biology in 10+2 standard and must have passed the 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks. Candidate must have a good score in the entrance test to take admission in universities and colleges.
Students can opt for this course after the completing 10+2 level examination from the science stream. The selection of candidates is done on basis of their performance in this examination. A few institutions may take admission test for admission to this course. Some of the exams are – All India Entrance Exams, CMC Vellore Entrance Exam, SVNIRTAR NIOH Common Entrance Test. Based on these marks, a merit list is made. Seats will be allotted to deserving students based on the merit list.
Graduates of Bachelor of Occupational Therapy have good career opportunities within and outside the country. After getting the practice license from the institution, one may start working at Government or Private hospitals/clinics/community health centers. Occupational therapy is a client-centered health profession concerned with promoting health and well being through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life.
