BACHELOR OF PHARMACY (B. PHARMA) : Bachelor of Pharmacy is the art & science of preparing and conferring drugs and medicines for a number of illnesses and deficiencies.
Bachelor of Pharmacy

It is a health profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences and aims to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs. The Course teaches us about the medicines and their effect on human body, with details of the chemical and organic properties of all the elements used. Pharmacy education is regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India  ( PCI ) , a statutory body governed by the provision of the Pharmacy Act 1948 passed by the India Government &  are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) . Pharmacists can work in a range of industries related to the prescription, manufacture & provision of medicines. For getting the license to work as a pharmacist B.Pharm qualification is the basic requirement.


  • Admission in the B. Pharmacy courses, student must have to cleared class 12thwith Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/Biology as subject & at least one has to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.

Students, those pass the three year Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) are also eligible to purse B pharmacy course. There is no option for direct year B. Pharmacy course.


Course duration is 4 years. The 4 years’ duration is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of 6 months. In case of each semester, students will have to face one theoretical external examination (main exam). In case of some semesters, practical examinations will also be held, with the subjects being hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy and community pharmacy.

The pharmacy sector offers ample of opportunities to the students after the completion of the course. The students can work in a Pharmaceutical company or can practice as a Pharmacist. After completing the course and obtaining practice license, graduates may work as pharmacists at Government hospitals, private hospitals/clinics or private medical shops.  This course provide a huge number of opportunities available for the students in both Government and the private sector as well as in abroad

In a pharmaceutical company, graduates may work in departments such as manufacturing, quality control, packing, marketing etc.

  • Pharm can be done in pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacology, pharmacognosy, biotechnology, etc. After M.Pharm pharmacists gets higher pays in production and quality control etc.

MBA Course

After B.Pharm graduates can pursue MBA from reputed institute to get management Jobs in Heath Care and Pharmaceutical Industry.

  • MS

 Those who are interested in doing job in pharmaceutical companies in foreign countries can pursue Master of Science in pharmacy and related MS degrees from foreign universities. NIPER in India also provide MS Pharm Course. In India scope OF MS Pharm is similar to M. Pharm

  • LLB

You can even pursue LLB to become lawyer and specialize in pharmaceutical jurisprudence, intellectual property law, patents, etc
