CLAT 2018 : Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for the students seeking admission to various National Law Universities in the country. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India common entrance examination, conducted on rotational basis by 19 National Law Universities (NLUs).
CLAT 2018
CLAT is a qualifying cum ranking exam which means it entitles a candidate as qualified or not qualified and it provides rank and a merit list. It offers admission to their Under-Graduate (UG)/Post-Graduate (PG) programmes. CLAT 2018 exam will be organized by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies. CLAT Scores are considered by various private law colleges and government undertaking colleges across the country.

CLAT 2018: Registration


The registration process for CLAT 2018 has already started from 1st January, 2018.  CLAT 2018 Application Form can be filled till 31st March 2018. Candidates will have to first register themselves by creating a LOGIN account using an e-mail ID.

CLAT 2018: Application Process

CLAT 2018 application form can be filled online on the website. The filling of application form has already been started from 1st January 2018. After registration, candidate can start with the application process. All the personal details have to be filled along with the scanned copies of signature and photograph with size not more than 100 KB. At the time of filling the application form, students also need to fill the preference order for NLU’s. The university may offer the correction facility for CLAT 2018 application.

The application fee of CLAT 2018 is:

  • 4000/- for General/OBC/PwD/SAP and other category candidates
  • 3500/- SC/ST category candidates

CLAT 2018: Eligibility criterion

For UG

  • The minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2), the candidates must have scored (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/ (SAP) and other categories, and (40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to (SC/ST) categories.
  • Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April, 2018 are also eligible to appear in CLAT-2018 online examination with an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

For PG

  • The minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination [i.e. LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.) or equivalent must be (55%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/ (SAP) and other categories, and (50%) marks in case of candidates belonging to (SC/ST) categories.
  • The candidate must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission. In case of appearing candidates, he/she may submit his/her final result of qualifying examination at the time of admission.

CLAT 2018: Exam Pattern

Mode of Exam: online mode
Type of Questions: objective type questions
Total Questions: Total of 200 questions
The medium of Exam: The exam will be in English medium language
Duration: 2 hours.
Marking Scheme: 1 mark is allotted for each right answer
Negative Marking 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

CLAT 2018: Syllabus

As per the website of CLAT exam, the syllabus is:-

  • English including comprehension:

The English section will test the candidate’s proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar. In the comprehension section, candidates will be assessed on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs:

The General knowledge will be evaluated on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test the candidate’s on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.

  • Mathematics:

This section will test the candidate’s knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e., maths taught upto 10th Class/Standard.

  • Legal Aptitude:

This section will test the candidate’s interest towards the study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which it has to be applied.

  • Logical Reasoning:

The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

CLAT 2018: Admit Card

CLAT admit card can be downloaded from the official website of the national level law entrance exam. Aspirants can download their admit card for CLAT exam by logging into the official website using their login ID & password. It is mandatory for the candidates to bring the admit card/hall ticket to their respective examination center. It is an extremely important document for the national level law entrance exam.

CLAT 2018: Results

CLAT result will be declared by the National Law University (NLU) in the month of May. Aspirants can only check CLAT 2018 result official website. To view the result for CLAT exam, candidates need to Login by using their Account details such as their registered username and password that was provided by them while filling CLAT 2018 application form.

CLAT 2018: Counseling

Committee will begin CLAT 2018 Counseling for National Law Universities (NLUs) admissions on June 7, 2018. CLAT Counseling 2018 includes a number of processes, beginning with online registration, making NLU choices, to allotment of seats in NLUs and payment of CLAT counseling fees, besides upgrading of seats and finally reporting to the allotted NLUs.
