NEET 2018 Attempts Limit and Age

Knowing the maximum attempts and age limit for NEET is important for all candidates, especially those who have appeared for NEET in the past and intend to do so again. A major controversy was generated in NEET 2018 when the CBSE introduced an upper age cap and maximum attempts limit in NEET without any warning. As per the 2018 NEET upper age and maximum attempts rule, only unreserved candidates below the age of 25 and reserved candidates below the age of 30 would be allowed to appear for NEET and that too only a maximum of three times. Those who had already appeared for NEET or AIPMT three times in the past would not be allowed to appear for NEET 2018. After strong protests by student bodies across the country, the CBSE revoked the rule and made NEET 2017 the first attempt for all candidates. After a long legal battle, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of NEET 2017 aspirants and removed the upper age limit as well. There is however a chance that the upper age limit rule may be reintroduced this year onwards. Another eligibility controversy currently doing the rounds is regarding the appearance of NIOS/open school students. NEET 2018 Attempts

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted for the candidates seeking admission in various Medical and Dental courses. The courses offered through NEET 2018 is duly approved by Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI). The MCI has assigned the CBSE to organise the entrance test for the admission to the MBBS and BDS courses. The admission to the concerned courses will be based on the rank/score/merit obtained by the candidates in the NEET 2018 entrance examination. Interested candidates can apply through the official website i.e. cbseneet.nic.in. as per the scheduled dates only.

Before applying for the admission to the concerned courses, the candidates must ensure their eligibility as per the norms of the conducting body prescribed for the concerned courses. The eligibility criteria will include the age limit, educational qualification, Nationality and the number of attempts etc for the candidates.

The candidates who will apply for the NEET 2018 to get admission in the concerned courses will not have to worry about limited number of attempts to give NEET. The number of attempts was earlier 3 attempts for candidates who will appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test along with the fulfilment of the other eligibility requirements. Appearance in the NEET 2017 was to be counted as the first attempt. Now there is no attempt limit.
Therefore, the same will be expected for the candidates who will apply for NEET 2019.
