Top Law Colleges in India: Legal education in India has come up as a very vivid educational field. Students across Indian schools and colleges are aspired to pursue law as a career option. The Law as an education started in India in the year 1987. The BCI (Bar Council of India) is the main regulatory body of Law education controls the regulations of education of Law.
Law Commission of India decided to establish a University for Law Education in the year 1985 to boost the academic standard of the legal profession in India. Thereafter the first National Law School of India University (popularly ‘NLS’) was set up in Bangalore.
Courses Offered at Top Law Colleges in India
After the successful completion of Class XII from recognized Boards of Education in India, one can opt for law courses. The student can even pursue the legal degree after the completion of the graduation in any discipline. There are some colleges that provide certificate courses in Law. Integrated undergraduate degrees(LL.B.)- 5 years
It is a combination of two Degree programs. One is law and the other stream student can choose as per their stream in 12th standard. Different specializations are:-

Masters of Laws (LL.B.)- 3 years
It is a PG course in LL.B. Graduates from most branches and disciplines may pursue L.L.B. course. After getting graduation Degree, one may go for masters in L.L.B. Degree (3 years long program).

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Doctorate degree in legal education is of great value. Some reputed autonomous institution provides the PhD programmes.
Admission at Law Colleges
Admission to LLB and LLM in most of the colleges/universities in India is based on performance in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). 12th standard student with any stream (Science stream/ Commerce stream / Arts stream) can go for law courses.
In some of the traditional universities, the admission is done on the basis of an admission test to the constituent law college or a common admission test for its affiliated colleges.
Students who wish to pursue law courses from foreign Universities/institutions can apply for LSAT. To practice in law profession, it is required for the candidates to qualify All India Bar Examination (AIBE 2018).

- 5-years LLB entrance exams:
Any student who has passed Class 12 with 50% marks (45 % for reserved categories).
A candidate was needed to be below 20 years of age as on July 1 to be eligible for CLAT
- Three-years LLB entrance exams:
Any student who has completed graduation degree with 45% marks (40% for reserved category)
A candidate must not be less than 17 years of age on the date of application.
